Overview
On April 26, 2024, Law360 quoted Zoe Osborne in an article titled, "UK Disclosure Review Hints At Tweak, But No Overhaul." The article previews how potential reforms to the disclosure process in UK criminal cases hints at incremental changes rather than a major overhaul as both prosecutors and defense lawyers warn that the system risks collapsing under the weight of digital evidence.
Speaking about the disclosure review Zoe said, "the review does not appear to be advocating for radical overhauls to the regime, which would need Parliamentary approval and are likely to be bitterly contested." But, she noted, "incremental tweaks to the existing system are needed instead." She also notes that this may prove to be a missed chance, "to get to grips with what is going wrong and to remedy it, but rather to fix a few holes in the leaking dam."
